Alliance of Official Languages Minority Media

The Alliance of Official Languages Minority Media (AMM) brings together French-language weeklies that are members of the Association de la presse francophone (APF), French-language radio stations that are members of the Alliance des radios communautaires du Canada (ARCC), and English-language weeklies that are members of the Quebec Community Newspapers Association (QCNA).

As the AMM, these three associations represent the interests of the media serving official language minority communities. They contribute to their members’ development and influence as well as the vitality of French-language communities in Canada.

The AMM launched the Let’s Talk Media initiative to obtain reliable and credible information on the media consumption habits of the communities its members serve, and to determine the profiles, satisfaction and expectations of official language minority communities regarding the media that serve them.

Association de la presse francophone

Created in 1976, the Association de la presse francophone is the sole network of French-language newspapers published in Canada outside Quebec.

Its mission is to unite, support, serve and represent its members’ publications in order to promote the development and influence of the French-language press, as well as the vitality of francophone and Acadian communities in Canada. The APF represents the interests of its 22 members, which have a total circulation of 145,000.

Alliance des radios communautaires du Canada

The Alliance des radios communautaires du Canada has ensured overall coordination of community radio broadcasting in the country’s francophone and Acadian communities since 1991. The Alliance unites 27 broadcasting stations and 6 other stations currently under development.

Quebec Community Newspapers Association

The Quebec Community Newspapers Association represents the interests of its 22 members. Member papers are published in either English or in both official languages and reach approximately 700,000 readers throughout the province.

The QCNA is dedicated to the professional and economic development of English community newspapers and their enterprises serving minority communities in Quebec.
